Hearthside - The House That Love Built

GENEROSITY AND CARING SHINE THROUGH DURING DECEMBER EVENTS

In the tradition of an old-fashioned Christmas, the candles in the window showed a sign of food and rest for the weary.  At Hearthside's Open House on December 7th, visitors were asked to bring canned goods as their admission to the festively decorated house.  As one of several historic houses throughout the state to participate in Preserve Rhode Island's "Home for the Holidays," Hearthside joined in the effort to open its doors to the public and to collect food to donate to the RI Community Food Bank.  The response was overwhelming, and we had some 200 visitors and 8 full boxes by the end of the 4-hour Open House.

With generous door donations, raffle ticket sales, gift shop purchases, and admission tickets to The Polar Express event, we raised over $1,500 during our December events, all of which will help fund our preservation work.  And there's no end to the projects to fund....next up on the list will be the repair of the front porch and painting of the columns.
