AMERICAN GIRL DOLL™ TEA
SCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY, APRIL 20TH
Back
by popular demand this year will be an afternoon tea designed especially
for young girls along with their moms and grandmothers. The American Girl
Doll Tea, scheduled for Sunday, April 20 th, is a special event where these
young girls can bring their dolls and share them with others. This year to
accommodate all those anxious to take part in the tea, there will be two
seatings taking place at 1:00 and at 3:00 p.m.
Wearing their Sunday finery and toting their favorite doll, the party participants
will gather in this lovely historic setting for a very delightful afternoon
of tea, lemonade, elegant prepared miniature sandwiches and sweets, all served
according to proper Victorian etiquette.
Among the dolls in the American Girl Doll™ Collection are eight dolls,
each representing a fictional character from a specific time period, social
background, and segment of U.S. history. The doll is dressed in period clothing
and come with books about the period in which they lived their fictional
lives. Most girls who own American Girl™ dolls have read the books
and have a keen interest in their doll’s background and history. Some
girls even own American Girl Dolls™ who look just like them.
The American Girl Doll™ Tea Party will be a wonderful opportunity
for all to experience the nostalgia and traditions related to the various
American Girl Dolls™ and periods in history. This multi-generational
program gives families time together to share memories and enjoy a gracious
afternoon tea in the manner in which ladies were served at that time. It
also gives young girls a chance to dress up in their best outfits. While
lovely hats and white gloves are encouraged, they are optional.
In addition to the dainty treats being served, the event will also feature
raffle prizes, tours of the historic home, and shopping in the Hearthside
Gift Shop.
Space is limited for the Tea Party which will be held at both 1:00 and
again at 3:00 p.m. Tickets, at $16.00 each, must be purchased in advance
by calling Hearthside at 401-726-0597 before April 14 th.
All kinds of dolls are welcome, in addition to American Girl Dolls™,
and can come to the tea party for free. Tickets are non-refundable, and proceeds
from the event benefit the restoration of the historic home.
