RESERVE NOW FOR CANDLELIGHT COLONIAL DINNER ON SEPTEMBER 18THA unique dining experience awaits you at Hearthside! Friends of Hearthside invite you to share in the bounty of the fall harvest with a colonial-style dinner on Saturday evening, September 18th. The period-authentic, four-course dinner will feature turn-of-the-century recipes that might have been served at Hearthside around the time that it was built in 1810. The menu includes harvest cellar soup served in a bread bowl, carrot and beet salad, fire-roasted squab with wild cherry sauce on wild rice, creamed turnip, and served with wine and traditional accompaniments. This sumptuous meal will be topped off with a brandy bread pudding and apricots. The elegantly prepared dinner is being served by candlelight in the ambience of the historic homestead. As it was not customary in Colonial times, there will not be a cocktail hour. Therefore, seating for dinner begins at 7:00 p.m., with delectable appetizers and wines served at the table before the meal. Tours of the house will be given by costumed guides at the conclusion of dinner. The cost for this is $40 per person. Seating will include a colonial-style table of 20, or tables of two or four people. Attendance is limited. Tickets must be purchased in advance before September 8th by contacting Kathy Hartley at Friends of Hearthside, 334-2209. For further information about Hearthside, visit www.hearthsidehouse.org.
