Hearthside - The House That Love Built

A HISTORIC PICNIC SCENE AND OPEN HOUSE SCHEDULED FOR JULY 11

Scenes of an old-fashioned picnic will fill the grounds of Hearthside on Saturday afternoon, July 11th. Held in conjunction with its Open House tours of the historic homestead, the picnic will involve a group of military and civilian re-enactors, dressed in period attire, who are part of the Civil War Re-enactment scheduled to take place at Chase Farm Park during the weekend of September 12-13. As historical interpreters, the re-enactors welcome interaction from spectators as they spend a summer afternoon enjoying the simple pleasures of an old fashioned picnic, with good friends, good food, and lawn games, all in late 1800s style.

Hearthside will be open for guided tours between 1-4 p.m. while the picnic is taking place. Docents in period costume will tour guests through the 10-room house. The Hearthside Gift Shop will also be open for the afternoon.
