Commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War to be held Sept.17-18
This year marks the sesquicentennial commemoration of the Civil War - 150 years since the War began in 1861. The 150th anniversary offers us a most important opportunity to commemorate this country's greatest national crisis.
Friends of Hearthside is proud to sponsor A Call to Arms: a Reenactment & Living History Weekend which will take place Sept. 17-18 at Chase Farm Park and Hearthside. Our partners are the New England Brigade, the Liberty Greys and the Town of Lincoln in this spectacular undertaking.
Featured throughout the weekend will be:
Full-scale battles both days
Appearances by President Lincoln and Mary Todd Lincoln
An Inaugural Ball for President Lincoln with live Civil War music
A Night Time Artillery Salute
Several hundred reenactors portraying Civilians, Union & Confederate troops
Artillery and mounted cavalry
Special living history vignettes
Ladies Tea in the Camp
Civil War exhibits
Fashions Through the Ages
Blacksmithing demonstrations
