American Girl Doll Tea Set for Sun. June 5
A Tea designed especially for young girls and their American Girl Dolls is back again this year, scheduled for Sunday, June 5th. Because of the popularity of the event, there are two seatings available: at 1:00-2:30 p.m. and 3:00-4:30 p.m. The appropriate age for girls for this Tea is 5-10.
Girls, often dressed in identical outfits with their favorite doll, along with their moms or grandmas, will gather in this lovely historic setting for a very delightful afternoon of tea, lemonade, elegantly prepared miniature sandwiches and sweets, all served according to proper Victorian etiquette.
Among the dolls in the American Girl Doll™ Collection are some representing a fictional character from a specific time period, social background, and segment of U.S. history. The doll is dressed in period clothing and come with books about the period in which they lived their fictional lives. Most girls who own American Girl dolls have read the books and have a keen interest in their doll's background and history. The American Girl Doll Tea Party will be a wonderful opportunity for all to experience the nostalgia and traditions related to the various American Girl Dolls and periods in history. This multi-generational program gives families time together to share memories and enjoy a gracious afternoon tea in the manner in which ladies were served at that time. It also gives young girls a chance to dress up in their best outfits. While lovely hats and white gloves are encouraged, they are optional. All kinds of dolls are welcome, in addition to the American Girl Doll, and can come to the tea party for free.
In addition to the dainty treats being served, the event will also feature lessons in tea etiquette, raffle prizes, tours of the historic home, a memento of the event, and shopping in the Hearthside Gift Shop. The antique buggy will be on display at both Teas, so be sure to bring your camera and get a great photo sitting in the carriage.
Space is limited for the Tea Party so early reservations are advised. Tickets are $18 each, and must be purchased in advance by calling Hearthside at 401-726-0597. All ticket sales are non-refundable. Proceeds from the event, raffles and gift shop sales benefit the Capital Improvement Fund to support the continued restoration of Hearthside.
