Hearthside - The House That Love Built

What’s It Worth: Antique Appraisal Day Returns to Hearthside June 11

Here’s your opportunity to discover how much that unusual vase that belonged to your great-grandmother, the painting that’s been sitting in your attic collecting dust, or the old book that has been handed down through the family is worth? On Saturday, June 11, 2011, nationally-renowned antiques expert, author and appraiser Paul Royka will return to Hearthside for our 2nd Antique Appraisal Day. Come learn more about the background of your antiquities and their worth. It promises to have all the intrigue and excitement of watching a similar event on TV, but even better because it’s live and involves your antiques and your neighbors.

The action takes place under a tent on the grounds of Hearthside between 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Cost is $10 for one item or $25 for 3 items.  Advance registration is required by calling 726-0597.  Guests are invited to bring artwork, paintings, Americana, antiques, art glass, bronzes, ceramics, clocks, dolls and toys, gold coins, pottery and more!

Don't have any relics to be appraised?  You're still welcome to come join in the fun.  Cost to attend with no appraisal is $5.  In addition to the antique appraisals, interpreter in period costume welcome you to tour the house and the Gift Shop will be open for shopping. Proceeds from the event will help support our Capital Improvement Fund.

Formerly an appraiser on the PBS series, Antiques Roadshow, Paul Royka has been featured in numerous publications and TV shows. At the young age of 25, he joined Skinner, Inc., the 4th largest auction house in the U.S., to appraise, auction and catalogue fine art and antiques. Early in its development, he transitioned to the Internet as an auction consultant, including Amazon.com. Currently, Paul is an appraiser and auctioneer based in central Massachusetts.

Limited spots for appraisals are available. To reserve yours, please email info@hearthsidehouse.org or call 401-726-0597 and indicate how many items you’ll bring. Your spot will be confirmed by email or phone.
