KATHY HARTLEY HONORED BY BLACKSTONE VALLEY TOURISM COUNCIL
President of the Friends of Hearthside, Kathy Hartley, is being honored by the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council with her induction into the William Blackstone Society. The award will take place at the Tourism Council’s Annual Dinner on September 22, 2011 at Twin River Event Center. She shares this year’s honor with Eugene Peloquin, a long-time supporter of the Museum of Work & Culture.
Ironically, Kathy and Gene worked together years ago at the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce. Gene was director of the Business Volunteers for the Arts, while Kathy, whose office was right next to his, was director of Leadership Rhode Island.
“Gene and I have remained in touch since we left the Chamber, and it’s been interesting that we’ve both gotten involved in preserving history of the Blackstone Valley. I am thrilled to be receiving such a prestigious award, especially sharing such a special honor with my good friend, Gene Peloquin,” states Kathy. “He is so deserving of receiving this recognition of his lifelong achievements, and I am humbled to be considered in the same category as him.”
