Allied Mortgage Gives Hearthside a ScrubbingAllied Mortgage Company of Lincoln selected Hearthside for their annual community service project, and on Friday, July 14, 2006, several Allied employees left their desk jobs as mortgage brokers and spent the day providing some much needed maintenance at Hearthside. They washed windows, from top to bottom, and inside and out, they climbed ladders, and they got down on their knees. They scrubbed, scraped, painted, weeded, and got pretty sweaty as the heat of the mid-day sun beat down on them. When their work was done, they pulled out the grill and put on a wonderful barbecue to honor the work of the Friends of Hearthside. We are grateful for the support they gave to our efforts and for the recognition they gave us. These days, dollars are scarce, but volunteers who give of their time and roll up their sleeves can be even scarcer. Yet, without them, maintaining these precious historic structures that add so much to our quality of life in Lincoln would not happen. The teamwork and dedication of these employees is to be commended. A special note of gratitude goes to Cindy Mulvey for her leadership on this project. She first suggested the idea to her managers, and then she jumped right in to work all day on several different maintenance projects. If that wasn’t enough, she did all the cooking for the barbecue as a special treat for the Hearthside volunteers. And then, she even returned the next day and spent a few more hours tidying up the grounds some more. Special thanks go to Allied branch manager Brian Maggiacomo, his soon-to-be-wife Suzanne, Carolyn Petrarca, Kimberly Dolan, Ray Flynn, Paul Schiele, Nadine Petrarca, Eric Warburton, David Ostlander and Mark McBride for putting in a hard day’s work to make Hearthside shine! The decision by management to give back to the community in such a meaningful way is a wonderful statement of Allied’s commitment to the town of Lincoln and a fine example for other businesses to follow.
