Hearthside Featured on TV during DecemberIf you did any channel surfing on your TV during December, chances are that you may have caught sight of Hearthside, since it was shown on both local and national TV programs throughout the month. On local cable TV, Hearthside was the topic of the Tea with Marie show. The 30-minute program was filmed on location and featured the house all decorated for Christmas. Interviewed during the show were: Kathy Hartley, John and Francine Scanlon, Gwen Ricci, and Pat St. Germain. Also featured were the Victorian Singers who entertained with Christmas carols during the opening of the show and during the closing credits. It was a great chance for people throughout the state to see Hearthside at its most elegant time, to learn a bit about its history, to promote the holiday events at Hearthside, and even to make a pitch for volunteering with Friends of Hearthside. The show aired six times, both on statewide cable stations and on Lincoln’s cable station. An added bonus to our TV fame was our brief exposure on national TV. In town to film a segment for the Made in America show on Lincoln’s ChemArt Company, the Travel Channel set the rural scene of Lincoln by showing Hearthside and describing its legendary story of Stephen Hopkins Smith and the rejection of the house by his fiancé. This show aired across the country several times during December. |
