THIS PLACE MATTERS: Hearthside and the Historic Great Road

" This Place Matters " is the theme chosen for National Preservation Month May 2009. In celebration of Preservation Month and to show that our community cares about Hearthside and the Historic Great Road , Friends of Hearthside gathered a group of visitors in front of the house for this photo.

Sponsored by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, National Preservation Month helps to spotlight grassroots preservation efforts across America .  The above photo has been placed on the national website, www.preservationnation.org/take-action/this-place-matters .

Friends of Hearthside is kicking off a membership campaign with this theme and hopes that it will help raise awareness and generate support from citizens who care about Lincoln's quality of life and unique historic character and want to see it saved for the future. 

These places DO matter, and they will only survive if individuals step forward to lend a hand, donate funds, and be committed to insuring that these treasures will be preserved for future generations.
