VOTE YES TO “SAVE OUR HERITAGE”If you’re visiting this website, then we know you love and appreciate other historic sites like Hearthside. That’s why we’re urging you to vote “YES” on Question #11 on the November 2, 2004 ballot---a $3 million State of Rhode Island bond referendum to fund the State Preservation Grants for projects around the state. Hearthside was a recipient of $51,500 during the last award of State Preservation Grants in 2003 to fund critical repairs to the stone exterior, windows, and chimneys. Friends of Hearthside President, Kathy Hartley states, “Without such a significant grant, we would not have been able to undertake this level of restoration, which would have resulted in rapid deterioration of this magnificent house. Thankfully, the voters recognized the importance of preserving our heritage during the last election. We are excited that the opportunity is being presented to the voters once again, and that Hearthside will be eligible to apply for another grant, should the bond issue pass.” If approved by the voters, Question #11 will provide another $3 million in State Preservation Grants for arts and culture organizations, museums, and historic sites such as Hearthside. Please join us in helping to “Save Our Heritage” by voting YES on Question #11 on November 2! |
