Rumford Oven604 viewsA significant discovery of this Rumford oven was made by Friends of Hearthside volunteer John Scanlon while he was a student of the Roger Williams Historic Preservation Program. The oven was built around 1820 and had been covered up since 1840. It is located in the dining room to the side of the fireplace. It has been noted that this is one of just a few in the country that is still intact inside of a home.

Kitchen Fireplace585 viewsThis is the kitchen fireplace with built-in bread oven. The addition of the kitchen was built in the mid-1800's. Many antique implements hang in place, which would have been used for hearth cooking.
