Great Road Historic Sites Featured in New Ornament

The Friends of Hearthside announces the release of a new ornament featuring the four 19th century properties located at Chase Farm Park known as the Great Road Heritage Campus.

The custom designed miniature scene includes the Moffett Mill (c.1812), the Hannaway Blacksmith Shop (c.1880), the Pullen's Corner Schoolhouse (c. 1850) and Hearthside (c. 1810), all set in the historic landscape of Chase Farm with the grand Sycamore Tree overlooking it all.  This area of Great Road is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as well as these individual buildings.

The full-color ornament is a sculpted, three-dimensional piece of art made from bonded marble dust which is handcrafted and hand painted by an artist. It measures 3 1/2 inches round.

"Hestia Creations, which is known for their amazingly detailed and realistic ornaments, worked closely with us to achieve this beautiful ornament that commemorates the rare and unique history and architecture found on this stretch of Great Road," states Kathy Hartley, president of the Friends of Hearthside.  "The ornament makes a wonderful gift for anyone from Lincoln, or those who enjoy visiting these unique properties or Chase Farm," she adds. "It's ideal to hang on the tree at Christmas, but to also display it year-round."

The Great Road Heritage Campus ornament is sold exclusively at Hearthside's Gift Shop, which is open during tours and programs during December, starting on Dec. 2nd.  Visits to the Gift Shop without attending the tours may be made by entering through the rear entrance of Hearthside. Special orders are also available for pick up at an arranged time or through shipping.  The cost of the ornament is $25 and the optional display stand is $5.
